Bill  is from the Raleigh/Durham Area. Bill's background included Country and Rock lead guitar but he never gave up his Bluegrass roots. Bill comes from a musical family which included his grandfather, who taught him how to flatpick and fingerpick the guitar. Bill passed this knowledge to his younger brothers Doug and Mike. They formed a band called the McDonald Brothers in the middle 70's.  Bill was the fiddle player for the Snow Valley Boys during the 80's. Bill was also the Banjo player, baritone vocal and band leader for the Steel Creek Band. Bill also played  fiddle for Applachian Fire. Bill Started recording in 1972 with Arthur Smith and has continued to record and produce music ever since. Bill is married to Janet his wife and they two children Laura and Jessica. They make their home in Myrtle Beach SC
